Haughman Abbey


The Abbey was established by William fitz Alan, a friend of John le Strange's, circa 1135. John was canon and made patron of the Abbey in 1176, near the end of his life. James Barker, eldest son of John and Elizabeth Hill Barker, Held Haughmond Abbey, and a patent was granted to him by William Harvey, Clarencieux King of Arms (1562) to Queen Elizabeth. More...
